Tofte Trek & 4th of July Schedule

June 26, 2015

Tofte TrekGet Muddy! Experience the Tofte Trek this Fourth of July!

Here’s the challenge: a 10K race course, the first half of which is uphill combined with shoe-sucking mud, which will be turned into a muddy wallow beneath the feet of racers.

That is the essence of the Tofte Trek, a Fourth of July race that sets runner against Sawtooth Mountain slope and muck in the Superior National Forest. If you are going to be up at the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts on Independence Day, the Trek makes for a fun challenge and a great way to kick-start a day of barbecue, parade and fireworks.

Aside from the Trek itself, there are several other options for those looking to have fun, including a course walk, a free on- mile run and free kids’ sprints. The event includes race awards for finishers, including age group categories and there are T-shirts for the first 200 to register. Cost is $25 for online pre-registration and $30 for race-day registration. Here is where you can register online:

Here is schedule information from the Sugarbush Trail Association, which hosts the race:

  • 7:45 am: Same-day registration opens
  • 9:00 am: 10K Wilderness Walk
  • 9:05 am: Kids sprint races, age 4-12 (Free)
  • 9:20 am: One mile race (Free)
  • 9:30 am: 10K Wilderness Run
  • Overall and age-group awards

Participants must be at least 11 years old to run the Tofte Trek.
