Pre-planning makes your summer getaway more enjoyable
We all know summer travel is going to look and feel different this year. Many of the resort services we provide at Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts – from dining to outdoor activities to access to resort amenities such as our pools and spa — have changed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
These services are all operating under limited capacity and safety guidelines in accordance with the CDC and local and state health officials.
Here are some pre-planning tips to help you make the most of your North Shore vacation getaway this summer. We can’t wait to see you!
Indoor Dining Reservations
Reservations are now required for indoor dining at the Bluefin Grille, and we are taking those reservations via Open Table. If you know that you want to dine inside, we suggest you make a reservation in advance of your stay. Just click on the Open Table widget to make a reservation, or call us at 218-663-6200.
Takeout and outdoor seating at the Bluefin Grille does not require a reservation. Learn more about our hours, online menu and ordering information here.
Coho Café & Bakery is now offers counter service for takeout, limited indoor seating and outdoor seating on one of two outdoor patios. No advance reservations are required at Coho Cafe, seating is on a first come, first-served basis. See current hours and menus here.
Outdoor Activities – Sign-Up Suggested
We’re offering the full array of outdoor activities – hiking, biking, kayaking, inland kayaking, wilderness canoeing, yoga, kids’ activities and more – under new health and safety protocols. Learn more and sign up for each activity here.
Waves of Superior Spa is open at 25% capacity offering 60-min massage services. Waves of Superior Spa access is limited to spa clients and staff, and guests must make reservations in advance. Walk-in appointments are not available due to social distancing and other health and safety protocols. Please review the Stay Safe 2020 page for more information.
The indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, and fitness areas are all now all open under current MN Department of Health restrictions. Signage at each pool and hot tub area indicate the maximum number of people that can be in the area/facility at one time.
No advance reservations required, but we do ask guests to adhere to capacity limits and social distancing requirements both inside the pool and on pool decks, etc.

Pools, fitness areas & spa now open!
The most frequently asked question we’ve received from guests over the past month: “When will the pools open?” We now have an answer!
The indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, fitness areas and Waves of Superior Spa are all now open – under current MN Department of Health restrictions. Yes, we can hear the cheers!
Capacity at each facility is limited according to the MN Dept. of Health. For the health and safety of all, we ask guests to please adhere to maximum capacity limits and the safety protocols in each area.
Pools, Hot Tubs & Saunas: Signage at each pool and hot tub area indicate the maximum number of people that can be in the area/facility at one time. Please adhere to maximum capacity signage, as well as physical/social distancing guidelines (stay 6′ or, one moose, apart) when on pool decks and platforms and in the water.
Showers & Changing Rooms: Our showers and changing room areas have also re-opened and we’ve increased cleaning frequency and rigor. That said, some guests may still prefer to shower and change in their respective rooms to minimize contact.
Fitness Areas: Our fitness areas have re-opened, but these areas are small and capacity is lower for fitness centers. We ask guests to adhere to max capacity guidelines posted on the signage for each facility. If an area is already at max capacity, please plan to come back later.
Waves of Superior Spa: The spa is also now open to guests by advance appointment only, and with limited capacity and services. Guests must make appointments in advance and only those with spa appointments are allowed in the spa at one time. Masks are required to be worn in the spa, including during treatments.
At this time, we have resumed 60-minute massage services. Facials and other skin care services, and nail services are not available currently.
To learn more visit our Stay Safe Waves of Superior Spa page here or call 218-663-6888. We have limited staff available at this time so if you get the voicemail, please leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

We thank you in advance for your understanding, patience and cooperation.
No Tricks, Just Treats For Your Skin: Pumpkin Cream Body Treatment!
Fall is a great time to give your skin some extra love before the dry winter months arrive. Do you embrace all things pumpkin this time of year? In addition to its tasting good, pumpkin is also amazing for your skin! Pumpkin purée is rich in enzymes, beta-carotene, amino acids, and antioxidants that help to fight the visible signs of aging.

Get Summer Ready at Waves of Superior Spa
We’re all ready for warm, sun-filled summer days. But, are your skin and nails ready for summer? If not, it’s time to visit Waves of Superior Spa. Plus, Mother’s Day is almost here! Treat Mom to a spa treatment, buy a gift card, or stop in to purchase an amazing Eminence Organics skin care product.
One of our favorite new spring products is the Lilikoi Mineral Defense Collection. These lotions and creams are designed to protect you from environmental stressors like the sun. In addition, they also protect your skin from blue light! Natural blue light comes from the sun but artificial blue light is from things like a computer, phone, and television screens. Additionally, this harmful form of blue light can contribute to hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and worsening skin elasticity. On the positive side, the Lilikoi Mineral Defense Collection helps protect your skin from these natural and artificial stressors.
The Light Defense Primer will protect your skin from the sun and blue light pollution, minimize imperfections and provides a lightweight base for makeup.
The Mineral Defense Moisturizer will leave your skin lightly hydrated, protect from the sun, and shields the skin from indoor and outdoor toxins.
The Mineral Defense Sport Sunscreen is water resistant and protects your skin from UV damage even when swimming.
Manicures and pedicures are a great way to get ‘Summer Ready’! Book your nail appointment to pamper those hands and feet. Or, combine it with a massage or facial for the total body experience. Spa manicures and pedicures include enlivening sugar scrubs, warm towel treatment, cuticle care, a softening masque, and a deep massage, plus foot filing for pedicures. Of course, these treatments are also topped off with high-end polish. It’s time to let those summer colors shine!
Visit the Waves of Superior Spa website pages for more information on all of the wonderful spa treatments and to book an appointment. Or, give our spa a call with questions or to book your appointment: 877-668-7772 or 2186636888.
