Oh Ole Night – Holiday Spirit on the North Shore

November 21, 2016

We all have that one friend. The friend who enthusiastically stockpiles Christmas decorations the moment they hit the sale rack and is the first customer to have tinsel in their grocery cart after Halloween. They are the walking incarnations of holiday spirit, and we love them dearly. Well, for those chipper people and for all residents of Cook County, we are happy to announce that Christmas will be coming early to the coziest town on the North Shore! A month early, in fact.

On November 25th, Grand Marais will be hosting its annual “Oh Ole Night” parade, a celebration of Scandinavian history and a chance to ring in the holiday season with a beautiful tree lighting and fireworks display. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m., but Santa and his sled dogs will be there between 2:00 and 4:00 for pictures and wish lists (don’t forget to bring some cookies!).

After this season-opening event, the city of Grand Marais will be buzzing with live music, unique shopping opportunities, and more.

You don’t have to be the all-year Christmas fan to enjoy this wonderful, family-friendly evening on the frosted shoreline of Lake Superior! Check out the Visit Cook County event page for more information. We hope to see you there!
