As the November gales sweep through the Great Lakes region and the waves thunder against the shorelines in reply, the city of Grand Marais is preparing to host its second annual Lake Superior Storm Festival in honor of this awe-inspiring season.
The event will begin on Friday with a fashion show hosted by Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply and the chance to play call-in trivia (Lake Superor themed, of course!) with WTIP radio. On Saturday, the stormy antics will continue with the Wave Dash in which people quite literally dash into the very waves which have become the festival’s most honored guests. Brrrr! Later in the afternoon, our history buffs will appreciate an opportunity to learn about the famed wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and Timmy Haus will finish up the evening with the tune named after that legendary event and other songs by the famed Gordon Lightfoot.
Please consult the event page on the Visit Cook County website for more information and a full schedule of events. On your pack list? A camera. A sense of adventure. A pair of warm socks to ward off the post-Wave-Dash chill. And a friend to help you soak up the fun!
We hope you’ll choose the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts as your hosts for this special weekend. Check out our Gales of November special to spend an extra night on the North Shore for free!
