Though all seasons on the North Shore are beautiful, there’s nothing that compares to seeing Lake Superior brew up some monstrous waves! We like to call them “Gales of November and December” in the Lutsen Tofte area.
With that in mind, our good friends over at Cook County Visitor’s Burea have launched the Lake Superior Storm Festival, which takes advantage of Lake Superior’s natural beauty by creating events centered around the big waves.
They’ve got a great lineup of events starting tonight with a program called “Storm Surfing on the North Shore”, which focuses on the history and science of fresh water surfing.
Other events include the Wave Dash, similar to the world-famous Polar Plunge, photography sessions, live music, and a lighting of the popular Split Rock Lighthouse.
Enjoy the waves
