One of the hallmarks of Surfside on Lake Superior is our warm and friendly hospitality. Our Bluefin Bay Guest Services department can be reached 24 hours a day by dialing “0” from your in-room phone. They would be happy to assist you with anything from future reservations to area information. Surfside Guest Services is located in Waves of Superior Café and is open 7 days a week.
Guest Services has a variety of sundries available upon request including: Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Band-aids, Deodorant, Soap, Sewing Kits, Emery Board, Shampoo and Conditioner, Lotion, Shaving Cream, Razors, Tampons and Sleeping Masks.
It is our policy not to disturb our guests during their stay, so if you are needing any additional supplies, towels, linen service or cleaning, dial “2501” from your in-room phone between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Indoor Pool Facility at Waves of Superior
Our indoor heated pool is located in the Waves of Superior Spa and Recreation Center. Indoor pool hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and access is provided with your room key card. Adult pool hours are 8-9 a.m. and 9-10 p.m. The pool area features a vaulted pine ceiling, L-shaped lap pool with depths ranging from 3’-4’, a hot tub overlooking Lake Superior, sauna, and men’s and women’s changing rooms with showers and towels.
Our premium fitness center, located in the Waves of Superior Spa and Recreation Center, features a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, and free weights with weight bench. The pool and fitness center hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily; access is provided with your room key card.
Bike-path and mountain bike rentals are included as part of your stay at Surfside and the area offers trails for both that meet all skill and ambition levels.
We offer a variety of board, puzzle, and family games to keep the whole party entertained. Stop by Guest Services to see our assortment.
From toddler to teen to adult – we’ve got you covered for your ice skating needs at Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts. During the winter months, stop by our Activities Department in Guest Services at Bluefin Bay or Surfside to check-out a pair of ice skates.
Men’s, women’s, and children sizes are available to check-out at Guest Services. Inquire with our Activities Staff or Guest Services on local trails and recommendations.
Check out cross country ski equipment on your own or join one of our guided cross country ski excursions. Our guided cross country skiing is aimed at beginners and we’ll teach you the basics of Nordic skiing as you take in the beautiful scenery of our north woods.
The lower level entrance door at Surfside Guest Services is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for activity equipment check-out. This area will be open regardless of whether or not the Surfside Guest Services is staffed. The premises will be video monitored. Please note that there is a 4 hour time limit on recreation equipment check-out.
Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts offers an assortment of guided tours throughout the year. During the warmer months, guided hiking to area trails is offered nearly every day. If you are signed up for a hiking tour, meet at Bluefin Bay Guest Services at your scheduled time. Kayaking is slotted for three times per day in late-June, July, and August. If you are signed up for a kayaking tour, meet at the kayak shack along the lakewalk, near Bluefin Grille. During the winter, snowshoe and cross-country skiing guided tours are offered regularly, depending on trail and snow conditions. Located in the guest laundry facility, which is located behind Guest Services. Larger quantities of ice are available at the Holiday Station Store or the Tofte General Store.
Our on-site tennis court, open to players of all skill levels, is available for play as long as light permits. No sign-up needed. Complimentary tennis rackets and balls are available for guest use through Guest Services.
Located adjacent to the bonfire pit, our children’s play area provides the perfect recreational opportunity for your kids to enjoy the outdoors. The children’s play area features swings, slide, climbing bars, and more.
A number of gas grills are located throughout the resort and available for use all year long. Each townhome building (set of three) has a gas grill for guest use, providing the perfect opportunity for lakeside cookouts and picnics.
Campfires and Shoreline
Surfside’s 780’ ledge rock shoreline, right on Lake Superior’s edge, provides plenty of opportunity for exploring. There is a walking path located between units 14 and 15 to direct guests safely to the shoreline. Two campfire areas with a campfire ring and plenty of seating are located on the parking lot side of the resort. Ask Guest Services for your complimentary s’mores kit!
Our outdoor ice rink, lit at night, provides guests with the opportunity to skate without even leaving the resort. Hockey and figure skates are available to our guests in all sizes as a complimentary service. Broomball and hockey equipment are also available. After your skate, warm up next to the campfire and refuel with complimentary s’mores.
Waves of Superior Spa
Our treatments are designed to relax the mind, relieve the body, and rejuvenate the spirit. Waves of Superior Spa offers a full range of massage, body treatments, skincare services, and manicures and pedicures. The spa can be reached by dialing “4672” from your in-room phone.
Coin operated laundry and change machine located in the Guest Laundry facility, behind the Guest Services building.
Surfside offers a wide variety of movies for the whole family. DVDs can be checked out at anytime at the Guest Services building.
Our Gift Shops feature everything from charming souvenirs and gifts to hooded sweatshirts for those chilly North Shore days. Locations include inside the Bluefin Grille as well as in the Guest Services building.
The Surfside Guest Services building also offers a selection of gift shop items including jackets, mugs, candy clothing and more.

Surfside recycling center is located across from unit 5. Surfside recycles glass, aluminum, paper and cardboard products.
Our Hiking Shuttle Service is designed for folks who want to hike point to point on the Superior Hiking Trail. Typically, the shuttle van will follow guests to a trail head where they can park their car and then drop them off at another trail head to hike back to their vehicle.
