Fall Colors Around the Corner!

September 4, 2015

Fall Images on the North ShoreSummer may be over, but the beauty of Lake Superior’s North Shore lasts year round.

The Minnesota DNR is predicting another great year of Fall Colors in the Lutsen Tofte area in the coming weeks. Thousands of Maples and Birch Trees fill our forest, leaving an astounding display of color the last 2 weeks in September and lasting through the first week of October. Don’t miss your chance to see the best fall colors in the state at Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts.

Our activities staff is ready and waiting to take you out on an unforgettable fall color hike to various trailheads in the area. Check out our activities calendar to plan your adventure.

Here are a few of our favorite fall color locations:

  • Oberg Mountain (pictured right) – An absolute must if you’re looking for a Fall Colors hike. The abundance of maples lining this part of the forest is simply remarkable.
  • White Sky Rock – A short drive up the Caribou Trail, this difficult hike (steep inclines) leads you up and allows you to glance over Caribou Lake and the Caribou Trail, also lined with maples as far as the eye can see.
  • Lutsen Mountains – Head up to Lutsen, hop in the gondola and sit back and enjoy the view on your way to the top.
  • The back roads – Pick up a fall color guide at the Bluefin Bay or Surfside on Lake Superior front desk and take a trip through the backwoods to experience the beauty of Autumn in the Superior National Forest.

We hope to see you soon! We’ll update fall colors as much as possible over the next month.
