Section 13 is a down and back hike on the Superior Hiking Trail along the Baptism and Sawmill River Valleys. It’s considered by many through-hikers as one of the most scenic sections of the trail! This winter hike winds through deciduous forests slowly climbing to a beautiful overlook and is frequented by moose, wolves, and various raptor species. This winter hike isn’t for the faint of heart, the terrain is rough, but the rugged beauty of this area is worth the effort! We’ll outfit you with snowshoes when the snow is deep and fluffy and use ice grippers when packed and/or icy.
