Section 13 is a down and back hike on the Superior Hiking Trail along the Baptism and Sawmill River Valleys. It’s considered by many through-hikers as one of the most scenic sections of the trail! This hike winds through deciduous forests slowly climbing to a beautiful overlook and is frequented by moose, wolves, and various raptor species. This hike isn’t for the faint of heart, the terrain is rough and the trail can be muddy. But, the view at the top is well worth the struggle. Don’t forget to bring a camera, dress for the weather (layers!), sturdy shoes, and water!
Distance: 2.7 miles
Stay Safe Update: For resort guided hikes, we’re recommending that all participants drive separately to the trailhead. If requested, there will be space for one family/friend group of up to four in our resort shuttle on a first come, first served basis. Masks are required at the trailhead and in areas where physical distancing is not possible. Those who are fully vaccinated may choose not to wear a mask outdoors
If you’ve experienced any Covid-19 symptoms in the last 14 days, we ask you to stay back and not participate in the hike.
