The Oberg Mountain Loop is a spur trail of the Superior Hiking Trail and is a staff and guest favorite year-round! After meeting at guest services we’ll start off with a short drive up to the top of the Onion River Road.
From the trailhead, we’ll gradually climb through a Maple and Cedar forest for a half mile before coming to a steeper ascent to reach the top of Oberg Mountain. This gorgeous trail travels in a loop atop the mountain and follows the ridgeline offering panoramic views and several overlooks of Lake Superior, Oberg Lake, and The Sawtooth Mountains.
Don’t forget…sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, water bottle, camera! Sign up ahead of time. Meet in the Guest Services building at Bluefin Bay Resort.
Level of Difficulty: Moderate/Easy
Length: 2.75 miles
Stay Safe 2020 Protocols: For resort guided hikes, we’re recommending that all participants drive separately to the trailhead. If requested, there will be space for one family/friend group of up to four in our resort shuttle on a first come, first served basis. No reservations are taken in advance for the shuttle, and all participants are required to wear a mask when they ride in a Bluefin Bay Resorts shuttle.
Masks are required at the trailhead and in areas where physical distancing is not possible. If you don’t have one, your resort guide will offer masks prior to the trip.
If you’ve experienced any Covid-19 symptoms in the last 14 days, we ask you to stay back and not participate in the hike. Thank you in advance for helping to protect fellow guests, our staff and community at large.
