March, 2012 @ Bluefin

Welcome to the blog of the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts

Warmer than average temperatures early in the Spring have melted most of the snow on the North Shore, but despite the unusual weather, Lutsen Mountains has remained open and hopes to remain open until April 8th. Tickets are currently being sold at half-price.

In addition to half-price lift tickets due to limited runs being open, there will also be some great entertainment up the hill next weekend as the Sweetwater Shakedown Festival is going on feauting a long list of music entertainment.

Cook County will be providing a complimentary shuttle from area resorts up the hill on Saturday evening for a means of safe transportation to and from the event.

Today officially marks the first day of Spring.North Shore Wildlife

On Lake Superior's North Shore that means a lot of changes outside. Rushing rivers, warmer temperatures, plants blooming, and trees growing back their leaves, and animals coming out of hiding.

At Bluefin Bay, we're putting the cross-country skis, snowshoes, and ice skates away and bringing out our bicycles and tennis rackets among other things. Guided hikes are available every day starting at noon. Don't miss the chance to see the waterfalls at their finest!

Skiing @ Lutsen 3/14/12Warmer temperatures have sprung up all over the state in the past week, but that doesn't mean that you still can't enjoy spring temperatures on the slopes!

Lutsen mountains will remain open without question until at least the middle of April and on average the Lutsen Tofte area is about 15-20 degrees cooler than the Twin Cities. The mountain has made more snow this winter than ever before, and the base will be solid until the middle of April as it has been in recent years.

Ski and stay packages are still available through our website and can save you up to 25% off of your spring vacation. You can still enjoy winter activities on the North Shore, while the rest of the state endures warmer temperatures!
