Our Waves, Our Days

Welcome to the blog of the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts

Greetings to all!

The Tofte Lutsen area was blessed with another 3 inches of snow this morning, just in time to kick-off our 2012 Winter Tracks Festival!

Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts guests will be receiving a Winter Tracks passport as they check-in to the resort. Stamps will be distributed by the front desk staff for a wide range of activities including: Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, dog sledding, and snowmobiling, as well as attending campfires, and live music!

All participants should turn in their passports at check-out and they will then be entered into a drawing for a Cook County vacation! The more stamps you have, the better your odds at winning!

We are happy to report that almost all of the Sugar Bush Cross County Ski trails are open, as well as most of the runs at Lutsen mountains.

Good luck to all participants and enjoy the winter!

Bluefin Bay Snow SculptureWe've got some exciting things going on at the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts these days.

As part of the Winter Tracks Festival in Cook County, starting this coming Monday, January 30th, our special guests Vic Germaniuk and Oscar Mattas will be creating a snow sculpture to display near the Bluefin Bay Guest Services building. Vic was part of last year's 2-man crew that constructed the sculpture pictured to the right. We're excited to see what Vic and Oscar will come up with this year.

The fun doesn't end there though, because every Saturday in February and March, our guests will have the opportunity to create a snow sculpture of their own with our activities staff. Sign up in advance and show us what you've got! Our staff will go through an instructional before giving you your own block to carve, and finally judging them later in the afternoon. A prize will be rewarded each weekend to the sculpture deemed as the best by our judges, and a grand prize will be awarded at the end of the season!
