Weather major factor in Beargrease
A 57 degree temperature change spelled trouble for most mushers competing in the 2008 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon.
Monday temperatures pushed to near 40F, followed by rain. Tuesday brought gusting winds and temps dropping to -14F.
Only 12 in a field of 27 mushers were able to endure and finish the nearly 400 mile race. Including our own Coho Baker, Rita Wehseler, who finished 9th.
