Sled Dog Marathon

John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon Sunday will be the 25th running of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. Mushers will start the 400 mile marathon in Duluth, turn around at Trail Center (1/2 way up the Gunflint Trail) and return to Duluth with 10 checkpoints inbetween.

The mid distance race also starts in Duluth but will end right here in Tofte. Monday 40+ dog teams will cross the finish line just across the road from Bluefin Bay.

The Sawbill checkpoint is the closest spot to Bluefin to watch the marathon teams. They will be heading up the shore on Monday and coming back down on Tuesday.

Come and help us cheer for local favorite Rita Wehseler (Coho Cafe Baker).

SNOW!

Cross Country Skiing
A two day snow storm blanketed the north shore in another coat of white. Guests that ventured out during the storm broke trail and enjoyed the snow laden trees.

Sled Dog Rides

New this year the Cook County Event and Visitors Bureau has launched a cooperative effort to increase the range and variety of things to do, particularly during the midweek and at night after a day playing outdoors. Events include a strong line up of live music ranging from classical to nationally recognized touring bands, as well as naturalist programs, special events and festivals, and even fireworks.
