Lake Superior Spring Gale

A spring storm dumped about 10" of heavy snow on us early Friday morning. The snow was followed by very high winds and incredible waves. The day was grey and dreary but the huge waves made even the locals stop and take a second look. Many Guests try to plan trips up to see the big waves, some of them just get lucky.
Warm temps are rapidly melting the new snow as Lutsen Mountains closes for the season tomorrow.

15+ foot waves rising up as they near the shore ...

cresting and starting to break ...

and exploding into a white churning mass.
